Bhubaneswar: After speculations were rife over cancellation of Students' Union election at Utkal University this year, Union Advisor Prof Jayanta Parida cleared the air and said that varsity will conduct elections as per the Lyngdoh Committee guidelines and advertisement of the State Government.

The decision was finalized in a PG Council review meeting chaired by PG Council Chairman along with HODs of 27 departments, Warden and Advisors of Students' Union.

"PG Council Chairman called up for a review meeting. After discussing various issues and looking through all perspectives, we finalized that elections will be held in the varsity and we would follow the advertisement of State Government regarding Student’s Union election,” said Jayanta.

As per the notification of Higher Education Department, election to Students’ Union in several colleges and universities will be held on September 23 while the process is likely to start from September 15.
