Bhubaneswar: The PG council of Utkal University on Wednesday decided to conduct students’ union election in the university this year.

Informing this to media, PG council chairman Ranjan Bal, said, “We have formally issued a notice to hold the students’ union election on September 28. Besides, we have also decided to cancel the elections in case of unrest at the varsity.”

Jayant Kumar Parida, adviser, student union of the varsity, said, “As there is no violence in the university campus this year, so we have decided to hold students’ union election this year as per the schedule announced by the Odisha government.”

Notably, the student election in Utkal University was cancelled last year after student unrest.
