Bhubaneswar: The Odia passengers who were injured in Utkal Express derailment at Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh two days ago returned to Bhubaneswar on Monday.

A team of BJD members led by Transport Minister Nrusingha Sahu landed in State Capital with the five injured passengers.  "Out of five injured, Madhu Mandal of Banpur and Sabita Mallik of Balasore sustained critical injuries.  We have brought them back to Odisha. They will be treated here," Sahu said.

Capital Hospital doctor Elli Sahoo who was also a part of the team said the victims were treated well there. “The local hospital at Muzaffarnagar provided all necessary treatments to our victims. Odisha government made adequate arrangements for their further treatment. They will be treated here,” he added.

All of them were taken to Odisha Sadan in Delhi from UP and later they were brought back to the State by flight, said Sahoo.

A day after the mishap, the BJD team had rushed to Muzaffarnagar along with some medical staff and enquired about the condition of State passengers who were undergoing treatment at a local medical college and hospital.
