Bhubaneswar: Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot said he will discuss with Odisha Government on the students’ silent protest-walk in Mayurbhanj among other issues.

Arriving at Bhubaneswar to attend a meeting in Cuttack, Gehlot  said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched  'Sankalp Se Siddhi' campaign and all Union Ministers are visiting all districts in the country. My Cuttack visit is a part of the campaign."

Referring to the protest-walk of students in Mayurbhanj, he said, "I will look into the matter and ask for details so that my ministry can resolve the issue."

Earlier on Sunday, 256 students of Morada Patapur Girls’ High School took up a mission and walked 15 km to meet the Mayurbhanj Collector and apprise him of their problems.

The girls had alleged that headmaster Rajeev Mahanta beats and misbehaves with them. Another teacher Sushant Das had also allegedly misbehaved with the guardians. Collector Surendra Kumar Meena, after hearing the students, suspended both the teachers on the basis of prima facie investigation.
