Rourkela: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is scheduled to lay foundation for proposed second bridge over the Brahmani river today.

Union Ministers Jual Oram and Dharmendra Pradhan and Rourkela legislator Dilip Ray will also attend foundation laying ceremony at Balughat ground in Rourkela.

Though Rs 476 crore fund has been sanctioned by the centre for the second Brahmani bridge, GKC Projects has agreed to execute the construction work at Rs 381.75 crore.

Dilip Ray, Rourkela MLA, said, “I am happy finally the project is going to take off though after significant delay. The bridge work should start by October and get over within one and a half year.”

On the other hand, Umashankar Das, Rourkela SP, said, “With the help of CRPF and CISF staff, the district police have set up a full-proof security arrangement for the Union Ministers’ visit.”

Gadkari is also scheduled to attend bhumi poojan of national highway project works at Balasore-Jharpokharia, Angul-Sambalpur, Tileibani-Sambalpur and Baharagora-Singara.
