Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly was adjourned till 3 pm on Wednesday after Opposition members created a ruckus while Law minister Arun Sahu was giving a statements on funds credited into a SBI account belonging to BJD, as alleged by Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra.

Dissatisfied with the statement of the Law minister after an adjournment till 12.30 pm, members of BJP and Congress shouted slogans and moved to the well of the House. Congress chief whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati stood over the reporter’s table and broke the Speaker’s mike.

Amid the pandemonium, the Speaker adjourned the House till 3 pm.

Earlier in the day, both Opposition and ruling party members shouted slogans in the House as soon as it assembled for the day’s business.

Congress and BJP members stormed into the well of the House and shouted slogans while wearing black aprons. They were demanding the dismissal of Justice MM Das, chairman of the chit-fund commission, and resignation of the Food and Supply minister Sanjay Das Burma.

Countering the move of the Opposition, BJD members shouted slogans demanding resignation of the Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra while standing near their seats.

Unable to run the House, Speaker Niranjan Pujari adjourned the House till 12.30 pm.

Notably, on Tuesday, Mishra had asked the chief minister to clarify whether the bank account number 10091755246 in the State Bank of India’s main branch in Bhubaneswar belongs to the Biju Janata Dal and what kind of involvement he has with this account. He had alleged a hefty amount of Rs 8 crore was found to have been deposited in this account on a single day.

“Who deposited this money? From which account the money was transferred to this account? Is this SBI account a ghost account?” Mishra had asked in the assembly.
