Undertrial prisoner dies in Jharpara jail

Bhubaneswar: An undertrial inmate died under suspicious circumstances in Jharpara jail in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. The deceased Jitendra Biswal’s body was found hanging in his cell during wee hours today.

Biswal, who is accused in a gang rape case, was lodged in Jharpara jail for the last one and half years.

According to reports, Biswal was beaten up after he misbehaved with his own advocate in Bhubaneswar court premises recently.

However it is still unclear whether Biswal committed suicide or was murdered. Police have sent the body to Capital hospital for post mortem.
