Bhubaneswar: Deepak Gupta, prime accused in the multi-crore Uliburu mining scam, has been hospitalised after he complained of acute chest pain on Friday night.

According to reports, Gupta was shifted to Keonjhar district headquarters hospital after jail doctors conducted a preliminary check up of his health condition.

Gupta has been admitted to the medicine ward and his condition is said to be stable.

Earlier, Orissa High Court had rejected Gupta’s bail plea on August 25.

Vigilance had earlier arrested Gupta in connection with the Rs 1800 crore mining scam in September 2013. He is accused of carrying out illegal excavation of iron ore and manganese beyond the lease area by violating forest and mining norms.
