Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: The University Grants Commission has asked all universities to introduce photograph and Aadhar number in degrees and certificates awarded to students.

The UGC vide letter dated March 21, 2017 has requested all the universities to introduce such identification mechanisms, said Union Minister of State for HRD Mahendra Nath Pandey in the Lok Sabha recently.

While replying to a question in the Lok Sabha, Pandey said the UGC has also requested all the universities to inscribe the name of institution in which a student is enrolled for a programme to study as well as the mode of delivery (regular, part-time or distance).

Use of such security features by the universities in the marksheets and certificates will help verification and curbing duplication. It will also be useful in maintaining uniformity and transparency, the UGC secretary JS Sandhu said.
