Mayurbhanj:  Two people were injured, one of them critically, in a wild bear attack in Chririlapi village under Badampahad Range of Mayurbhanj District in the wee hours today.

According to reports, the injured, Kaate Phingua and Chaare Phingua, residents of the same village were attacked by a wild bear when they went to a nearby forest in the morning to attend nature’s call. As they shouted, villagers present nearby came to their rescue. Looking at the horde of people the wild bear fled into the forest.

Both were admitted to Rairangpur hospital but later Kaate was shifted to Baripada District Headquarters Hospital as his health detoriated.

Meanwhile, forest officials reached the spot and are taking stock of the situation.
