Two held for raping woman

Chandbali: Police today detained two persons for raping a married woman of Pahadpur village under Chandipur police limits in Bhadrak district on Thursday night.

The detained two have been identified as Manas Das of Pahadpur village and Dipu Das of Gandhi Nagar area in Chandbali block.

Talking to media persons, IIC of Chandbali police station Sriballav Sahu said as per a complaint lodged by the victim, the incident took place at about 8 PM yesterday when two persons came to her house in a bike and told her husband that the contractor for whom he worked had summoned him on some work. with him and took him with them. After a while, the two persons came and knocked on the door. When the woman opened the door, the duo gagged her and took turns in raping her. The two accused managed to flee the area through the backdoor when her husband came back.

The woman had married just three months ago and was staying with her husband.

After coming to know about the incident this morning, villagers caught the two persons who had come to take their bike which they had parked at a short distance away from the house of the victim last night. The villagers tied the duo to a tree and thrashed them severely.

On getting information, police rushed to the village and rescued the two persons.

“We have detained them for interrogation. One of the accused Manas Das has admitted to the crime. We will arrest them after conducting medical examination of the two accused and the victim and forward them to the court later in the day,” the IIC informed.
