2 held for impersonating ADM, PA

Jajpur: Police arrested a person for impersonating the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Cuttack district and his aide for impersonating as the personal assistant (PA) to the fake ADM in Jajpur district today.

One Debashis Das, claiming to be the ADM of Cuttack district, reached the Jakhapura police station in a car flashing a red beacon and sought help from the police for visiting the Maithan steel plant at Kalinganagar. He managed to convince the cops to accompany him in his visit to the plant.

But the activities of Das raised suspicion in the minds of the police team accompanying him, who arrested the two impersonators at the plant site. The cops also seized some fake documents from their possessions.

Police said Debashis, a native of Jagatsinghpur, is a B Tech degree holder and was staying in Bhubaneswar whereas his aide is a Grade-IV employee. After hiring the car from a travel agency, the duo used to visit various places since August 19. However, the motive of the two high-profile fraudsters would be revealed only after investigation, said police.

“The car had a nameplate of the Cuttack ADM. Suspecting their activities, we detained them for questioning. We recovered many fake documents of the Home Department from their possession and later arrested them,” Jajpur SP Anup Sahu said.
