Jharsuguda: Six days after the shocking incident in which three miscreants had gang raped a woman and threw her at Banjari nullah, the Badamal police today arrested two accused.

Talking to media persons here today, Additional SP BB Patel said the two accused, who are from Jharsuguda town area, will be forwarded to the court tomorrow.

The SP, however, refused to give details to the media as it would hamper the investigation.

Notably, the victim, who hails from Mangalabag area in Cuttack city, had arrived at Jharsuguda railway station in the night on September 8. While she was waiting to catch another train to reach her destination, three anti-socials forcibly took her in a bike and gang raped her near Banjari nullah, about 7 km from the outskirts of the town. Later they fled the area after throwing the victim in the nullah.

As the locals came to know about the incident, they informed a women’s organisation who along with the police rushed to the spot and rescued the victim.

The victim, who was later admitted to the hospital, has been shifted to a short stay home.
