Nayagarh: Two villagers of Balarampur were arrested and forwarded to a court by the Itamati police today for forcing a teacher of Baunsiapada to pass between the legs of one of the accused as a humiliation at a kangaroo court on October 16.

Police sources said a manhunt has been launched to nab the other accused.

Though the teacher begged an apology from the kangaroo court, he was forced to undergo the torment.

The whole episode was videographed in a mobile phone camera and uploaded on the WhatsApp.

Saroj Sahoo, IIC, Itamati police station, said,” On October 20, the teacher Sreedhara Naik had lodged a complaint alleging he was forced to passed through the legs of Mayadhara Pradhan of Balarampur village at the kangaroo court as a punishment in connection with a minor altercation while his son made a video and uploaded it on WhatsApp.”

The Itamati IIC added, “Sanjay and Mayadhara Pradhan were arrested after a probe and forwarded to the court.”

The teacher was humiliated when he had gone to Balarampur village to seek forgiveness and resolve the matter with Bijipur village as the tension between the two villages was creating troubles for teachers working at the local government school.

There was a simmering tension between Bijipur and Balarampur after a boy of the former was beaten up in front of the house of Sreedhar and misbehaved by the nephew of the accused.

Elaborating the incident, the victimised teacher and complainant said, “The villagers present at the kangaroo court asked me to beg apology. When I did accordingly, they asked me to pass in between the legs of the village president. As I was helpless and they had weapons in possession, I obeyed the order. Otherwise they would not have let me go safely from the kangaroo court.”

The victim said, “The villagers had motives to inflict mental torture which was why they made a video clip and circulated. They were expecting that I would get bogged down and commit suicide.”
