Bhubaneswar: Two Odias, including eminent sculptor Prabhakar Maharana and master weaver Gobardhan Panika were conferred with Padma Shri awards by President Ram Nath Kovind at a special function in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The two Odias were among 84 others who received the country’s highest civilian honours in the Padma awards category.

Prabhakar Maharana and Gobardhan Panika bagged the Padma awards for sculpting and weaving art respectively.

Music director Ilaiyaraaja, Hindustani classical singer Ghulam Mustafa Khan, cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni and senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ideologue P Parameswaran were also honoured with Padma Vibhusan award.

Similarly, noted tennis player Somdev Devvarman was conferred with Padma Shri award on the occasion.
