Sundergarh: Hemgiri king Sunil Kumar Singh Deo, who had represented BJD in the 2009 assembly elections and veteran BJD leader Girish Sahu joined the BJP along with hundreds of supporters at a ‘Mishran Parva’ held in Sundergarh today.

Union Minister Jual Oram, BJP national secretary Suresh Pujari, party's State president Basant Panda, BJP legislature party leader KV Singhdeo, legislator Radharani Panda and Bharatiya Yuva Jana Morcha (BYJM) president Tankadhar Tripathy were present in the event.

A huge rally had been organised by the saffron party in the town on this occasion.

The BJP is now aiming to strengthen its base in the district and win seats in other constituencies other than Rourkela.

"Sunil Singh Deo had gone on deputation to BJD for few days as he was earlier in BJP. He had taken few party members with him but today he has brought BJD workers in large numbers with him. Many people who had left BJP and joined BJD for various reasons are returning back to the party,” said BJP national secretary Suresh Pujari.

“There are many people who are physically in the BJD but their soul has already joined BJP but anti-defection law is coming in their way, they will also join the party in near future," he added.
