Keonjhar: Two dumper drivers were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly raping a minor girl near Daribahala forests under Bamebari police limits of Keonjhar district.

The incident took place when the girl was returning to her village from a relative's house.

The matter came to the fore after family members of the girl filed a complaint against the two drivers at the local police station.

On the basis of the complaint, police registered a case and arrested the accused, identified as Abinash Laguri and Kalia Lohar, from Azad slum in Joda and later forwarded them to court.

According to the complaint lodged by the girl, the two accused offered a ride on their dumper and promised to drop her at her village when she was returning from a relative's house. The miscreants allegedly took the girl to a forest near Daribahala and raped her. The duo then left her near a crusher in Banspani after she lost her sense.

Later, when she regained consciousness, she somehow managed to reach her house and narrated the ordeal in front of her family members following which her family lodged a complaint with the police.

Sources said the girl would be sent to Swadhar Gruha after her medical checkup. Sandeep Patnaik, Member of Child Welfare Committee said," The girl was raped in the mining area when she was returning home. We are sending her to Swadhar Gruha where she will be taken care of."
