Abandoned TV triggers panic in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Panic ran high after locals spotted an abandoned old television under a tree at Mudulibeda village under Mathili police limits in Maoist-dominated Malkangiri district on Tuesday.

According to reports, the locals spotted the TV under the tree and alerted the officials posted at a nearby Border Security Force (BSF) camp.

The BSF officials rushed to the spot and immediately cordoned off the area, suspecting it to an 'explosive' planted by the Maoists.

Later, a bomb squad team was engaged to blow up the TV by using explosives.

However, it was found that there were no explosives or improvised explosive device (IED) inside the TV. It is suspected that someone might have dumped the TV under the tree, informed Malkangiri SP, Jagmohan Meena.
