Tusker kills elderly woman in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: An elderly woman was killed and another person injured in an elephant attack at Bhabanipali village in Jujomura block of Sambalpur district last night.

As per sources, a tusker from nearby forest barged into the house of the woman when she was fast asleep and smashed her to the ground with its trunk.

She was rushed to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla where doctors declared her brought dead.

The elephant has also reportedly damaged various other houses in the village. Forest department officials visited the village earlier today to take stock of the damage.
