Puri: A golden aura surrounded Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath, and Goddess Subhadra as the Trinity adorned the Suna Besha (golden attire) on their respective chariots today. A sea of devotees witnessed the lord and his siblings basking in the glory of gold as the servitors decorated the Trinity with 35 different ornaments running into stashes of gold as a part of the Suna Besha ritual.

The rituals began from morning today and after the ‘Madhyana Dhupa’ the ‘Suna Besha’ of the Trinity began.

“For those who cannot see the trinity in this adornment inside the temple, the lord has gives darshan to the devotees outside during the Suna Besha and the Hati Besha ritual,” said the ‘Badagrahi’ of Goddess Subhadra, Ramchandra Dasmohapatra.

Special arrangements were made to ensure peaceful and hassle-free ‘darshan’ by devotees. As many as 115 platoons of police force were deployed. Security personnel were around the three chariots to cordon off the periphery.

Similarly, the administration had also laid emphasis on the traffic management. Twelve parking spots were designated for vehicles carrying the devotees.

“During the whole ritual over 115 platoons of force along with 1000 officer have been deployed akin to the Rath Yatra. The traffic management system has been beefed up,” said said IG Central Range, Soumendra Priyadarshi.

Though the ‘Suna Besha’ ritual is conducted five times a year, this is the only one which happens outside the Srimandir on the chariots.
