Malkangiri: Upset over continuous violent activities of Maoists in the district, Adivasi Ekata Manch, a tribal outfit today put up posters at different places of Kalimela and Bandaghati areas appealing to local residents to come forward for a mass movement against the naxals.

Through the posters, the outfit asked the extremists to explain the reason of protesting welfare activities like road construction, public buildings etc.

"What is the problem of Maoists if road communication is developed in our locality? We want development, not destruction. We condemn the naxal activities which are against the interest of Bandaghati tribals," a poster read.

In another poster, the outfit mentioned that many innocent tribals had sacrificed their life in the past after working for Maoist organisations. "The ideology of non-tribal Maoist leaders of Andhra Pradesh is completely different. Despite our cooperation, they kill our people brutally branding them as police informer. Physical torture has become a common phenomenon," it read further.

"We have lodged complaint at central committee many times alleging that naxal ideologies are breached. But no action has been taken. Rather, rebels unleashed terror by looting the public, killing innocent tribal people and destroying public property," the Manch stated through the poster.

Giving the example of a tribal man named Soma Pangi of Chitrakonda, who was gunned down by the extremists recently, the Manch said the tribal community will not tolerate the violence any more.

Soma Pangi was working for Maoists for long. "Why was he branded a police informer!" the Manch asked.
