Puri: Knowing the history of Sun temple at Konark will now be easier especially for the tourists coming from different parts of the country and world as the much awaited light and sound show facility will be introduced soon.
The trial of the 35-minute duration light and sound show was successfully conducted at the heritage site on Friday.
The light and sound show will be presented in three languages. While Sekhar Suman has done the voiceover of the script in Hindi, Kabir Bedi has given his voice for the English script and Bijay Mohanty has recorded for the Odia one.
Official sources said, eight high definition projectors will be used for the light and sound show using laser technology.
250 visitors would soon be able to see the historic monument amid light and sounds for two hours simultaneously.
It may be mentioned here that the state government had earlier signed an agreement for the project back in 2014. The Tourism and Culture department had released Rs 4.56 crore to the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) for the project.
“Keeping in mind the general curiosity of tourists whenever they visit such monuments, the entire light and show has been planned to provide a detail information about its history by making it more entertaining,” said MD, ITDC Anil Gupta
ITDC officials informed that basing on the recommendations of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), which is in charge of the conservation work at the World Heritage Site, no speakers have been installed in the inner courtyard. Headphones will be provided to the visitors to enjoy the spectacular light and sound show.
