Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today announced the traffic regulation in the capital city for Ravan Podi on Tuesday evening as well as immersion of the idols of Goddess Durga tomorrow.

Talking to media persons here, DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said the traffic regulation for Ravan Podi at Saheed Nagar and Nayapalli would remain in force from 7 PM till the completion of the event.

“For Ravan Podi at Nayapalli, vehicles on the way from Cuttack to Khurda would be diverted to CRP Square via Jayadev Vihar and Power House Square. Similarly, road from Vani Vihar Square to Rupali Square would be sealed due to Ravan Podi at Saheed Nagar,” he added.

He further said the traffic regulation would remain in force from 4 PM onwards tomorrow for idoi immersion procession.

“A total of 12 officers including ACP, DCP and five officers in the rank of Additional DCP would remain in charge of security. Apart from this, 112 police officers including 23 Inspectors, Sub Inspectors and Assistant Sub Inspectors would also be deployed to maintain and law and order. To keep tabs on anti-social elements and tackle any eventuality, Special Operation Group (SOG), Quick Action Team (QAT), anti-terror squad personnel and plain-clothed policemen would be pressed on duty. Tthe immersion would be concluded by midnight,” Bhoi said.

The DCP also said the puja committees have been asked to set the volume of the music at a maximum of 85 decibel during immersion procession.

He also informed that three artificial ponds have been erected near the banks of Kuakhai, Daya and Bhargavi rivers where the idols would be immersed.
