Bolangir: Close on the heels of the incident in which a traffic cop was caught accepting bribe on camera in Cuttack, another traffic constable's  'dadagiri' has now gone viral on social media.

The fresh incident has been reported from Bolangir. In the video, the traffic constable is seen beating up a driver with his uniform belt in front of  the office of Regional Transport Officer (RTO) in the town.

According to reports, the driver identified as Satrughna Meher was threatened and allegedly beaten up by the traffic official for just overtaking him at around 9:30 pm on Wednesday.

"I was coming from Deogaon in a pick-up truck when the traffic police official stopped me near RTO office. He was in an inebriated condition and asked me If I knew him or not. All of a sudden he unbuckled his belt and started hitting me and my vehicle. Locals rescued me and later police officials rushed me to the hospital," Meher said.

A group of commuters had captured the entire incident on mobile camera which went viral on social media soon.

Meanwhile, Bolangir SP K Siva Subramani said action against the traffic police official will be taken after receiving an enquiry report from the local police station.

"It is an unfortunate incident and it should not happen with public. Even during training of traffic constables we instruct them how to behave with public. There should be a good and polite behaviour. The victim has lodged an FIR and a case has been registered. Besides, the department will take action on him after receiving an enquiry report from the IIC," he said.
