Dhenkanal: Four persons brandishing toy guns robbed the HDFC Bank branch located at Siminai under Dhenkanal Town police limits today afternoon. According to sources, the miscreants looted cash to the tune of Rs 4.8 lakh from the customers as well as the officials of the branch.

“Four persons entered the bank between 12 noon and 12.15 PM. They were carrying two pistols and two machete-type weapons. They attacked us and also ransacked the assets of the bank. They have also broken the CCTV cameras,” said manager of the branch, Shakti Shankar Behera.

Police have seized two toy guns used in the heist and launched a probe into the matter.

“The miscreants entered the bank with revolvers and weapons and terrorised people inside. They looted Rs 4.8 lakh from the bank and also mobile phones of some customers,” said SDPO of Dhenkanal Town, Niranjan Patra.
