Tomando firing: Police arrest three including parents of accused

Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police on Thursday arrested three persons on charges of instigating a person to murder a youth last evening here in the city.

As per sources, the police have arrested three persons including the parents and a relative of the accused Bishnu Charan Patnaik for instigating him to shoot a youth named Abhijit Behera alias Sipu in Tomando area of the city.

As many as five persons had opened fire at Abhijit from a very short range. Later he was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Aggrieved over the incident, locals had gheraoed Tomando police station demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.

The assailants notably Bishnu and his brother, residents of Aska in Ganjam district are yet to be apprehended.

From preliminary investigations, police have confirmed that the deceased and the accused had past enmity and both had a heated argument during holi celebration.
