Toll protest: 12-hr Sambalpur bandh on April 2

Sambalpur: Residents of Sambalpur have called for a 12-hour Sambalpur  bandh on April 2 protesting toll collection at Nuakhurigan toll plaza on the recently-inaugurated Sambalpur-Rourkela Biju Expressway.

Educational institutions, emergency services, milk van, vehicles carrying patients and students will be exempted from purview of the bandh, said Convenor of National Highway Users' Association, Satyanarayan Panda.

Locals are protesting collection of toll tax from vehicles of Sambalpur at the Nuakhurigan toll gate in Sambalpur while vehicles of Bargarh have been exempted from paying taxes at Bargarh toll gate.

However, Sambalpur Collector denied commenting on the issue.
