Bhubaneswar/Balasore: A day after the shifting of the Dhalasamant brothers from Choudwar Circle Jail, security has been beefed up in Jharpada Special Jail in the capital city and the District Jail in Balasore.

While Sushant Dhalasamant is lodged in Jharpada jail, his younger brother Sushil is lodged in Balasore District Jail.

Talking about the security measures, Rabindranath Swain, superintendent of Jharpada Special Jail, said special warders are keeping a strict vigil on Cell no-11 of the High Security Ward where Sushant Dhalasamant has been kept alone.

“Additional security guards have been deployed inside the jail while one platoon of Special Striking Force has been stationed outside the jail. Apart from this, armed policemen have been deployed on the roof-top of the jail to keep a watch on any suspicious movement around the jail,” he added.

Swain further said there is random search inside the jail everyday while the local police is having frequent patrolling around the jail.

In Balasore, the jail authorities have ensured all possible security measures for Sushil who is lodged in Cell no-5. “While CCTV camera has been installed outside the Cell, 24-hour security has been stepped up in and outside the jail,” Jail Superintendent Surendra Kumar Patnaik told the media.

To a question on the recovery of cash worth Rs 25,000, a gold chain, locket and ring and an iron wrist band from Sushil, Patnaik said he had talked to his Choudwar counterpart in this connection and he said it was Sushil’s protective custody money.

“We will keep his cash and ornaments in our protective custody,” he added.
