Paralakhemundi: Security personnel today recovered a tiffin bomb from a roadside near Telengapada forest under Adaba police limits in Gajapati district.

According to reports, a joint team of Adaba police and the District Voluntary Force (DVF) had carried out a weeklong combing operation in Telengapada forest area from July 28 to August 3 to foil the subversive plans of the Maoists during their observation of the Martyr’s Week.

The team was on a routine combing operation in Telengapada forest under Paniganda panchayat at about 7 AM today when it noticed a mound on the roadside in the forest.

Suspecting foul play, the security personnel removed the mound and found a tiffin bomb with about 40 kgs of explosives and informed the district Superintendent of Police.

Acting on the directive of the SP, a bomb disposal squad from the district police headquarters rushed to the spot and diffused the bomb.

Police suspects that the Maoist had planted the bomb to target the security personnel.

Following the incident, combing operation in the area has been intensified.
