Thunder Squall wreaks havoc in two villages of Kendrapara

Kendrapara: Acute damage due to thunder squall has been occured at Penthapal and Kolathia villages under Pattamundai Tehsil in Kendrapara district. Roofs of more than 40 houses were ripped off and huge trees were also uprooted at various places as the storm struck yesterday afternoon.

Severe winds and heavy rains following the storm increased the damage in the two villages.

Talking to media persons a local resident Manasi Das said, "We had just finished our cooking when the storm struck, it ripped off the roofs, took away some of our belongings and rest were damaged, we are not able to cook and living without any food since yesterday."

After taking stock of the situation, Pattamundai Tehsildar, Banamali Tarai said, "Penthapal village is the most effected, two houses have been destroyed in Kolathia. I had informed the District Collector yesterday, who asked me to send a report after taking stock of the situation and assured to take required action after getting the report."
