Paralakhemundi: People of Narayanpur village in Gajapati district are in a state of shock following the tragic death of three students who died in a road accident this afternoon.

According to reports, three students of Narayanpur High School—Ricky Bhuhan (Class X), Rohit Pradhan (Class IX) and Niranjan Lima (Class IX)—had gone to Gandahati waterfall on a Bajaj Pulsar bike (AP-31-A2-7176). On their return, a Datsun car coming from the opposite direction, collided head-on with their bike.

While two students died on the spot, another died on the way to district headquarters hospital.

Following information, irate people of Narayanpur village rushed to the spot and staged a road blockade demanding compensation of Rs 10 lakh to each family of the deceased.

Following information, a team of police led by Paralakhemundi SDPO Utkal Ranjan Das rushed to the spot.

“We are trying to pacify the villagers and requesting them to withdraw the blockade. Efforts are on to nab the car driver who managed to flee after the incident,” Das said.

Till reports last came in, vehicular traffic on Berhampur-Mohana-Parlakhemundi road has come to a grinding halt due to the road blockade.
