Sambalpur/Rayagada: Three persons were killed and seven injured in separate road accidents in the State today.

Following a head-on collision between a truck and a car on NH-53 near Chandarpali under Dhanupali police limits in Samabalpur three were killed and five injured.

The mishap occurred when the eight persons, residents of Sajapada area, were returning from Padiabahal in a Maruti vehicle that collided head-on with a truck.

While two persons died on the spot, another succumbed to injuries after being admitted to the Sadar hospital.

Meanwhile, police have reached the spot and started investigation into the incident.

In another road mishap, two were injured when a tanker truck loaded with caustic soda rammed into a roadside tree and overturned on NH-326 near Debadala in Rayagada district.

The tanker truck driver and helper were admitted to a hospital in a critical condition. The vehicle was going towards JK Paper Mills in Rayagada from Rajahmundry of Andhra Pradesh.
