Cuttack: Police today arrested three more persons in connection with the loot and gangrape incident at Jhinkiria village under Cuttack Sadar police limits on July 27.

The three accused were identified as Dillip Das, Sanjay Das and Jaga Das. While Dillip and Sanjay hail from Dhamnagar village in Bhadrak district, Jaga is a resident of Aul in Kendrapara district. The cops seized the mobile of the victim from their possessions.

"The latest investigation revealed that they had tried to do burglary at two-three places. But, they the particular house and committed the crime when they saw the lady alone", DCP Sanjeev Arora said.

Cases of loot and dacoity have been lodged against the arrested trio at various police stations in coastal parts of the State including Bhadrak, Dhamnagar and Kendrapara area, he added. Earlier, police had arrested the main accused Gadadhar Das and his associate Ratnakar Das, both of whom belong to Dhamnagar village.

After this incident, the police will intensify the night patrolling in rural areas, Arora said.

Notably, all these miscreants had barged into the house of a 29-year-old married woman late on July 26 night and allegedly looted valuables from her house at knife point before taking turns in raping her.
