According to reports, 11 species of herons, grey cranes, little cormorants and king-fisher in large numbers have thronged the national park. The number of birds is likely to increase in the coming days, sources said.

Notably, the national park witnesses the footfall of a huge number of country birds with the onset of rainy season. Last year, 94,437 birds had flocked to the park.

Meanwhile, forest department has formed a special squad under Kanika range to check poaching of birds.
