Cuttack: Suspected terror operative Abdur Rehman will be produced in the District and Sessions Judge court here.

A Special Task Force of the Crime Branch will produce Rehman before the magistrate and thereafter charges will be framed against him.

The STF had earlier produced Rehman before Salipur Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court on June 12 and later submitted a 574-page charge sheet against the suspected terror operative but considering the nature of his offences the case was referred to the court of District Sessions Judge.

The 38-year old Muslim scholar who ran a madrasa in Bilteruan near Tangi in Cuttack used to deliver speeches and radicalise youth for jihad so that they could be recruited for terror outfits. He also used to receive funds from various NGOs and individuals for his school. Even though he was never directly involved in any terror act but was acting as a liason with international terror outfits like Al Qaeda and Taliban.

A joint team of Special Cell of Delhi Police and Commissionerate Police arrested Rehman in December 2015 for his link with terrorist organisations from his village Paschimakachha.

He was charged under Section 121 (A) for waging war against the State, Unlawful Activities Prevention Act’s Section 17 (raising funds for the terrorist act), 18 (conspiracy), 18-A. (organising of terrorist camps) and 18-B (recruiting of any person or persons for the terrorist act).
