Terms of reference for judicial probe into Kunduli case expanded

Bhubaneswar: After the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) decided to depute a team of experts for investigation into Kunduli incident, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today directed to expand the terms of reference for the judicial inquiry into the case.

A statement issued by the CMO said "The circumstances leading to alleged committing of suicide by the minor girl will be added to the existing terms of reference for the judicial probe (sic)."

On December 26th, 2017, the Odisha government had ordered for a judicial probe into the alleged gang rape of a minor girl of Kunduli in Koraput district.

Meanwhile, the NHRC decided to constitute a special team to undertake a spot visit and probe the gang rape and subsequent suicide of the victim.

While adjudicating two recent submissions filed by Rights Crusader and Civil Rights Lawyer Radhakanta Tripathy, the Commission has asked the DG (Investigation) of NHRC to submit a report in 15 days.
