Kakatpur: Tension ran high at Srichandanpur under Kakatpur police limits over the molestation of a Class III girl student of an English medium school by a teacher of the school. Enraged locals today ransacked the school and restored to arson alleging that the school authorities deliberately let the accused teacher off the hook.

The accused has been identified as Prashant Mistry. According to family members of the victim, the girl used to go to the accused teacher for tuition in the evening. Mistry committed the heinous crime while the girl had gone for tuition last evening. The family members lodged a complaint against the teacher with the school authorities.

However, today morning, the accused teacher was found absconding.

"Stern action should be taken in this matter and the accused person should be hanged so that such instances do not recur," said Srichandanpur resident Kailash Patnaik.

“After we informed the school authorities, the teacher was called and asked about the incident. Initially the accused teacher denied, but later on he confessed to the crime and prayed before us,” said victim’s grandfather.

Meanwhile, the Nimapara SDPO and the Kakatpur Police Station IIC reached the spot and launched a probe into the matter. According to sources, a complaint has been filed and the victim minor girl was sent for a medical examination.

While the police refused to comment on the matter, school authorities informed that they have sacked the accused teacher.

“We were all keeping a watchful eye on the accused teacher. But at around 3 am, he somehow managed to escape. The teacher has already been removed from the school and we have no objection to whatever action is taken against him”, said school principal Sailendra Patra.

“The management of the school had a meeting during the night and was scheduled to hold further discussions in the morning. However, the accused escaped after which a complaint was lodged with the police. Investigation is on,” said Rabinarayan Ranj, the IIC of Kakatpur Police Station.

However, later during the day the accused teacher was arrested by police.
