Tension erupts over toll collection in Keonjhar

Keonjhar: Traffic on NH 20 was disrupted for long hours following a scuffle between private bus owners association and staff of newly inaugurated Hassanpur Toll Plaza here on Thursday.

According to reports, few members of the local bus association opposed the toll tax collection at the plaza, demanding concession in fares.

Trouble erupted soon after the staff at the toll plaza started collecting fares which was opposed by the bus association. As a result, vehicular traffic was disrupted for long.

Following the incident, senior officials of Ramchadra Police Station rushed to the spot and held discussion with both the groups.

As per latest information, the authorities have stopped collection of toll from buses till any consensus on the fares is reached.
