Tension at Nayagarh DHH over patient’s death

Nayagarh: Tension ran high on premises of district headquarters hospital here on Saturday night after a patient undergoing treatment at the hospital died due to alleged medical negligence.

The deceased has been identified as Jayanti Nayak of Khalamada of Dasapalla area.

According to sources, Nayak, who was suffering from sickle cell disease, died at the government-run hospital while undergoing treatment there.

Following the death, Jitu Parida, brother of Nayak, and his associates, allegedly ransacked the hospital and thrashed Prabhakar Sahoo, a doctor, and some other staffs, attributing the death due to medical negligence.

Being informed about the incident, police rushed to spot and detained the persons involved in the ransacking.

Police and Health department have started an investigation into the matter.
