Tension at Ganjam village after eve teasers kill girl's mother

Berhampur: Tension ran high at Bhabarada village under Polasara police limits in Ganjam district after locals stage a road blockade and set a police jeep on fire over an incident of eve teasing on Monday morning.

According to sources, Prakash Swain filed a complaint with Polasara police after four youths of the village passed some lewd comments on her daughter.

Irate over the incident, the youths on Sunday attacked Prakash and his wife Kamala. A seriously injured Kamala was rushed to hospital where she died while undergoing treatment there. Prakash has also sustained critical injuries in the attack, sources added.

Following the incident, locals staged a road blocked placing the body of Kamala on the road and demanding immediate arrest of the accused. Besides, they also set a police jeep on fire.

Seven platoons of police force have been deployed at the spot to avoid any untoward incident.
