Bhubaneswar:  Odisha Government on Friday blacklisted Suraj Enterprises, a special class contractor firm for acquiring tender by submitting false and fabricated documents.

The move comes in the wake of allegations against proprietor of Suraj Enterprises, Rajendra Prasad Agarwal and son Banti Agarwal of submitting fake term deposit receipts (TDRs) to bag contracts of several government departments.

According to reports, the father-son duo had committed a forgery of Rs 10 to 12 crores in Bolangir, Kalahandi, Nuapada and Kantabanji.

In a letter Engineer-in-Chief-cum-secretary to government has directed Chief Engineer, DPI & Roads to blacklist the agency under Rule-4 of OPWD Contractor’s Registration Rules 1967.

The public works department (PWD) had detected fraud in tenders procured by Suraj Enterprises by submitting fake TDRs in Kalahandi district.

The TDRs submitted by firm to the PWD during 2015-16 was subsequently sent to the State Bank of India, Bhawanipatna branch for verification. The bank later informed that most of the TDRs submitted by the agency were either fake or closed.

Later, the Works department on October 9 had lodged a police complaint against Suraj Enterprises for alleged fraud in submission of 48 TDRs to win tenders on different occasions.
