Bhubaneswar: Evaluation of Plus-II answer papers, which began today without the participation of the agitating 488 & 662 category college teachers, was visibly affected across various zones, prompting authorities to discuss alternatives and disciplinary measures.
Evaluation was hampered in the Bhubaneswar, Balasore, Baripada zones among others as teachers continued their stir demanding withdrawal of block grant and full grant-in-aid.
“We condemn the Block-grant policy of the State government which is not prevalent anywhere in India and hope that the government will withdraw this policy,” said a protesting teacher.
“We have been continuing our protests in a peaceful manner. Till the time government fulfills our demands, we will continue to boycott the evaluation,” said another protesting teacher.
Because of this boycott, only 20% of the teachers are currently doing evaluation, which has hampered and delayed the process across many evaluation centers.
“Even now, I am urging my teacher colleagues to withdraw their stir. Keeping in mind the future of students, they should sacrifice their self interests. As teachers, we have a duty towards the society. At any cost, we have to publish the results in time to help students apply for higher studies. Hence I have scheduled a meeting of the examination committee tomorrow and whatever decision is taken will be communicated,” said Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) chairman Basudev Chhatoi.
