Bhubaneswar: Teachers under the banner of School Teachers Federation of Odisha (STFO) on Wednesday hit the streets again demanding fulfillment of their various demands.

Thousands of teachers took out a rally from Bhubaneswar railway station to Lower PMG square demanding abolition of the block grant system, provision of full aid, permanent appointment and government take-over of all private schools.

Prakash Mohanty, convener of STFO, said, “There are 167 schools, 87 ME schools whose teachers are not getting full aid. We demand that the government should make arrangements to give them their due before the elections.”

“We also demand the take-over of these schools by the government,” Mohanty added.

Notably, the teachers’ body is observing August 16 as ‘Dabi Dibas’ (Demand Day).
