New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) has launched Diksha, a unique initiative towards digital infrastructure for teachers on the occasion of Teachers' day today.

The national digital platform of teaching resources will help teachers access in-class resources, teacher training content, assessment aids and interaction with the community of teachers across the country.

Diksha has been created after consultations and collaboration with multiple state governments, NGOs and more than 30 public and private organisations. It is built considering the whole teacher’s life cycle - from the time student teachers enroll in Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs) to after they retire as teachers.

“In India, many teachers are creating and using innovative tech-based solutions in their classrooms. Some state governments have also initiated programs to support their teachers digitally. This inspired MHRD and NCTE to coordinate these efforts at a national level and build Diksha,” said an HRD Ministry official. Student teachers and teacher educators can share their course related content online on this platform.

States, government bodies and even private organisations, can integrate Diksha into their respective teacher initiatives based on their goals, needs and capabilities. As of now, Andhra Pradesh, Maharshtra and Tamil Nadu have already integrated this digital infrastructure. Many states including Odisha will be integrating this tool next.
