Bhubaneswar: Offering floral tributes to Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today took to twitter to wish the teachers on Teachers’ Day.

Later, at a function at Jayadev Bhawan, he presented State Awards to 100 teachers including 25 women from across the State for their outstanding contribution to the field of education.

They were given a cheque of Rs 25,000 each besides a citation highlighting their contribution.

For the State level awards, every year 30 teachers from Primary Schools, 30 from Secondary Schools and a one from Sanskrit Schools are selected and felicitated for their outstanding work.

District level awards are also presented to the teachers shortlisted from block level. For their contribution in the education field they are awarded with Rs 5000 cash along with a certificate.

The task of selection of the awardees from the district level is carried out by district education officials.
