Teachers boycott HSC paper evaluation midway in Soro

Balasore: Evaluation of matriculation examination papers has stalled midway at Satyananda High School in Soro here due to the discontentment of the teachers.

The teachers are staging a dharna in front of the school with their six-point charter of demands including hike in allowance for checking the papers. They have decided not to check the papers till their demands are met.

According to sources, the teachers are being paid Rs 5 per paper for the last 15 years.

The 169 teachers said that they had to sit on dharna as a last resort, when the allowance was not hiked even after repeated demands.
