Bhubaneswar: With uncertainty looming large over smooth evaluation of matriculation answer sheets owing to boycott threat by teachers, Odisha government on Monday made an appeal to teachers to cooperate in the evaluation process.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) today clarified that the teachers will not have to submit any affidavit rather they notify the department regarding their respective court cases in writing so that the government has complete information for taking necessary action.

All Odisha School College Teachers’ and Employees’ United Forum had earlier announced to boycott the evaluation process that is slated to begin in 57 centres across the State from tomorrow.

The members of the United Forum today staged demonstration in front of valuation centres in different parts of the State.

With stalemate continuing despite government softening its stand on the issue, School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra today asserted that the government is ready with a contingency plan if the teaches do not cooperate in the evaluation process.

“We appeal the teachers to cooperate in the matric evaluation process in the larger interest of the students. However, we are also ready with emergency contingency plan to deal with the situation,” said Patra.

All Odisha School College Teachers’ and Employees’ United Forum has decided to stage dharna in front of the evaluation centres from tomorrow. The Forum is protesting government decision that forces teachers to submit an affidavit.

“The State government is yet to fulfill promises made on affidavit submission. We also urge other teachers not to cooperate with government and support our agitation,” said All Odisha School College Teachers’ and Employees’ United Forum convenor, Golak Nayak.

Official sources said, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha has made provision for evaluation of answer papers of the annual High School Certificate (HSC)-2018 examinations at 57 evaluation centres starting from tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the forum has decided to stage demonstration in front all the 57 centres.

BSE officials informed that over 13,000 teachers will be engaged check the answer copies of over five lakh students who had appeared in the matriculation examination this year.
