Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday informed that at least 22 lakh construction workers have been registered and 11 lakh families are availing various benefits under different welfare schemes introduced by the State government.

 After inaugurating the event to mark construction workers’ service week today at Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar, Patnaik said "As far as implementation of various welfare measures for construction workers is concerned, more than 22 lakh workers have been registered and 11 lakh families are availing those benefits now,” Patnaik told reporters.

 "Our target is to bring all the workers under our social security safety net," Patnaik added.

 Moreover, Odisha Labour minister Sushant Singh informed that a special pilot project worth Rs 134 crore has been launched for Bolangir and Nuapada districts where the issue of bonded labour is acute.
