Bhubaneswar: Top cop KB Singh, the Odisha DGP, has been listed among martyrs in a Tamil film in a shocking blunder. “It’s good to be martyred for the country, but I’m alive,” said Singh to OTV.
Well known actor Sathyaraj, seen as Kattappa in the blockbuster Baahubali, plays a police officer in the movie, titled ACP Shiva in its Hindi dubbed version. In a scene he introduces the pictures hanging on a wall as martyred officers. The pictures include photograph of Singh.
The DGP said it was shocking to know his picture was used among martyrs in the film.
“Films have a lot of influence on society and that is why we encourage good films. But they should have verified if the photographs are genuine or not. This should not be done,” he said.
The Odisha Police Association (OPA) has decided to move court over the issue.
“This incident is an insult towards our DGP. Any insult to our head is also an insult to entire Odisha police. So, we have decided to take the matter to Court and demand apology from the film makers,” said Satyajit Mishra, OPA President.
The film's Tamil version had released in March 9 this year while the Hindi version released on May 5. The film also stars actors like Ashutosh Rana and Raghav Lawrence.
