Talks with Havildar, Constable, Sepoys Confederation fails

Bhubaneswar: The talks between the state government and the Odisha Havildar, Sepoy and Constable Confederation remained inconclusive here today.

The members of the Confederation had a meeting with Director General of Police (DGP) KB Singh and Home Secretary to discuss about fulfilment of its six-point charter of demands. But the meeting remained inconclusive.

“The Confederation had placed its six-point charter of demands before the state government in 2015. But as the government is yet to look into its demands, we did our duty today by wearing black badges as a mark of protest as decided by the Confederation. But as it was decided in the meeting that there will be another round of meeting in this regard, the Confederation will wait for the outcome of the meeting. But if the meeting will have no outcome, we will begin our cease work from September 23”, Prafulla Kumar Panda, president of Keonjhar unit of the Confederation told media persons.

The demands of the Confederation include hike in the grade pay, food allowance for its members at par with the provision in the Central police force, appointment of Grade IV employees, and abolition of contractual appointments. OSAP, Constable, Sepoy and Habildars in the state are their duty today wearing the black badges as a mark of protest.
